Leistar — socks. “Everything will be fine!” says the pattern — socks for an optimistic and relaxed Icelandic lifestyle, warm and cheerful on the couch or in boots. Védís Jónsdóttir’s socks from Ístex’s Lopi 39 are crimson Léttlopi, and the leg carries the Icelandic motto ÞETTA REDDAST — it’ll all work out — in black on light ash.

Sizes
EU shoe sizes 36–38, 39–41 and 42–44 (about US women’s 6–7½, 8–9½ and men’s 9–11). The foot is knitted to the length you need — 16, 18 or 20 cm from the toe increases to the heel, or as long as required.
Gauge
18 sts × 24 rows = 10 cm (4″) in stocking stitch on 4.5 mm needles.

How it is knitted
Knitted from the toe up: an invisible cast-on on two needles, increases every round to 36 (44, 52) stitches, the foot to the length you need, and a short-row heel. Then the leg in the round with the lettered band from the chart, a round in crimson, 1×1 rib on 3.5 mm needles and five rounds of light ash, bound off very loosely.
