Knitting needles & notions
3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7) double pointed needles.
Gauge
18 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm in St st using 4.5 mm needles. Check gauge and adjust needle size if necessary.
Construction
Socks are worked in the round from the toe up. Cast on invisibly or with scrap yarn; shape a short-row heel; finish with rib and a few rounds in contrast before a very loose bind-off.
