Kjós — named after the farming district on Hvalfjörður, north of Reykjavík. Rebekka Kristjánsdóttir’s zip cardigan for children from Ístex’s Lopi 32, in the brown colourway: sheep sorrel Álafosslopi with a yoke in ray of light, burnt orange, highland green and chartreuse green, and a burnt orange stripe in the rib.

A zipper for the front. The steek is secured with a sewing machine.
How it is knitted
The body starts with 1×1 rib knitted back and forth on 5 mm needles, with a two-row stripe in colour C; then two purled stitches are cast on for a steek and it is joined and knitted in stocking stitch on 6 mm. The sleeves have the same striped rib cuffs. Body and sleeves are joined and the yoke is knitted in the round from a five-colour chart with decreases, from 137–169 stitches down to 55–67. The collar is rib with the same stripe, 4–5 cm high. The steek is machine-sewn and cut, and a zipper is sewn in under the front edges.
