Good to know

Kapp — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Five sizes — 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 years — with a chest of 66 to 80 cm and 26 to 36 cm from hem to underarm.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for 10 and 12 years: 6 balls of murky and one of rough sea. 4 years uses 4 balls of murky, 6 and 8 years use 5.
What is basket weave?
A texture made by knitting the second stitch before the first and slipping both off together, on both sides of the work — the pattern explains it row by row.
How does the neck open?
A few rounds into the raglan yoke the front is split at the centre, and the rest of the yoke is knitted back and forth with basket-weave borders, so there is a slit at the front of the neck. No buttons are needed.
What does the kit with needles include?
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm; 4.5 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names.
