Which size should I knit?
Six sizes, XS to XXL, with a chest of 92, 98, 103, 109, 115 and 120 cm all round and 103 to 132 cm at the lower edge. It is long — 70 to 80 cm from the hem to the underarm — with sleeves of 45 to 50 cm.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the XXL amount: 7 plates of golden yellow, 3 of ash and 2 of white. XS and S use 5 golden yellow, M and L 6, XL 7; XS to M use 2 ash, and XS to L use 1 white.
How does it close?
With three pairs of hook-and-eye closures at the yoke, as the pattern shows. They are not in the kit.
Do I have to cut my knitting?
Yes. Each round begins and ends with a purl stitch at centre front. You sew twice by machine along each column of purl stitches and cut between them, then knit two 7-stitch bands in single-ply ash, sew them to the front edges and fold them in over the machine stitching.
What do 2-ply and single ply mean here?
Plötulopi is unspun wool sold in plates. Body, sleeves and yoke are knitted with two strands together — 14 stitches and 19 rows to 10 cm on 5.5 mm needles. The folded hems, neckband and bands use one strand on 4.5 mm needles.
What does the kit with needles include?
5.5 mm (US 9) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles, each in 40 and 80 cm, and 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names.
