- SKYRGÁMUR in gold on the red ring
Skyrgámur, the Skyr Glutton, is the eighth of Iceland's thirteen Yule Lads and comes to town on 19 December. Skyr is a thick Icelandic dairy food, much like yoghurt, and in the old stories he crept into the pantry and ate the tub empty.
This hanging ornament, designed by Brian Pilkington, has him sitting on a hooped wooden barrel inside a red ring lettered SKYRGÁMUR, laughing over a bowl of skyr. He is painted by hand on both sides, measures about 7.5 cm (3 in) and comes in his own window box with a small English booklet. A decoration for the tree, not a toy. All fourteen are also sold as a set.

Why you'll love it
- Sitting on the evidenceThe skyr in the pantry was always his target. The ornament catches him after the raid, perched on top of the barrel with no plans to move.
- Small, with detail you can seeA customer who bought him found him just the right size to see the detail. Look for the hoops on the barrel and the stripes on his stockings.
- Worth turning roundOrnaments turn on their cord. On the back of this one the waistcoat, the green jacket and a square patch on the seat of his trousers are all painted.
- The eighth small giftIn Iceland children leave a shoe on the windowsill and each lad leaves something in it. On the night of 19 December, it is Skyrgámur's turn.
