Good to know

Hjörtu — your questions, answered

Does the kit make both the cardigan and the trousers?
Yes. The pattern lists 3 balls of murky for the trousers on top of the cardigan’s yarn, and the kit has it: 6 balls of murky, 3 of straw and one of white.
Which size should I knit?
Three sizes — 6–9, 9–18 and 18–24 months. The cardigan has a chest of 56, 59 and 64 cm; the trousers are 24, 26 and 28 cm long.
Will I have yarn left over?
The two smaller sizes use 2 balls of straw instead of 3; everything else is the same for every size.
Do I have to cut my knitting?
Yes. Two purled stitches at the cardigan’s centre front form a steek: machine-stitch twice through them, cut between the rows, and crochet the front bands over the edge.
Who designed it?
The original pattern and instructions are by Ragnheiður Matthíasdóttir. Védís Jónsdóttir redesigned them for Lopi 34; the instructions are by Hulda Hákonardóttir.
What does the kit with needles include?
4 mm (US 6) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm; 4 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names. Buttons, crochet hook and elastic are not included.
