Size
One size, given in the pattern as a woman’s size. No finished measurements are given; the hand is 36 stitches around at its widest.
Gauge
18 sts × 24 rows = 10 cm (4″) in stocking stitch on 4.5 mm needles.
Needles used in the pattern (included when you choose the kit with needles)
4 mm (US 6) and 4.5 mm (US 7) double-pointed needles
Not included
8 buttons (4 on each mitten, sewn on as decoration — the pattern gives no size), 2 stitch markers and a short length of scrap yarn for the thumb.
How it is knitted
Knitted in the round on double-pointed needles. 44 stitches are cast on for 5 rounds of 1×1 rib, then the long cuff is knitted in stocking stitch and tapered with four decrease rounds down to 28 stitches. At the wrist, half the round is ribbed for 5 rounds; the hand is then increased to 36 stitches, the thumb is marked with scrap yarn, and the top is shaped with paired decreases. The thumb is picked up around the scrap yarn and knitted last. Four buttons are sewn in a line on each mitten, as in the photo.
