8–9 large press studs and 2 m of ribbon for the front. The front is sewn with a sewing machine before it is cut open.
How it is knitted
The body is knitted in one piece in the round in stocking stitch, with two purled stitches at centre front. From 29–33 cm it widens at the sides, faster and faster, so the sleeves grow out of the body; then the front and back are knitted separately back and forth, the neck is shaped and the shoulders are grafted. The ribs are knitted separately in 2×2 rib — sleeve ribs 30–32 cm long, a 20 cm hem rib, a 12 cm collar and 6 cm front borders — and sewn on with backstitch about 1 cm in, which leaves a raised edge. The cardigan is worn purl side out. The front is machine-sewn and cut, a ribbon inside the borders hides the cut edge, and press studs close it.
