Winter Nights — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
There are four sizes — S, M/L, XL/2XL and 3XL — with a chest of 96, 108, 120 and 133 cm (37¾, 42½, 47¼ and 52¼″) all round, and 108 to 145 cm at the lower edge. Compare the chest with a cardigan that fits you the way you like.
Do I have to cut my knitting?
Yes, at the front. Each round begins and ends with a purl stitch. You machine-sew twice through each column of purl stitches and cut between them; then you crochet over the cut edges with half a strand of white and later slip-stitch them to the inside, under the bands.
How is the neck finished?
The neckband is knitted in white rib, with short rows (wrap and turn) across the back so it measures 10 cm at the back. It is then folded in half to the inside and slip-stitched down.
Are the buttons included?
No. The pattern calls for 7 buttons, and they are not in the kit. It gives two buttonhole sizes: big buttonholes worked as ssk, yarn over, k2tog, or smaller ones as yarn over, k2tog.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for 3XL: 9 balls of dark grey, 1 of oatmeal and 4 of white. Size S uses 7 dark grey and 3 white, M/L uses 8 and 3, and XL/2XL uses 8 and 4, so the smaller sizes have a ball or two over.
What does the kit with needles include?
6 mm (US 10) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, a 5 mm (US 8) circular needle in 80 cm, a 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle in 40 cm, 4.5 mm and 6 mm double-pointed needles and a 4.5 mm (US 7) crochet hook — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names.
