Good to know

Vörn — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Four ages — 7, 10, 13 and 16 years — with a chest of 80, 86, 92 and 98 cm all round. Measure a sweater that fits the child now and choose the closest size.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for 16 years: 6 balls of arctic exposure and 2 of white. Ages 7 and 10 use 5 blue and 1 white, and age 13 uses 6 blue and 1 white.
What is the difference between the blue and beige Vörn?
The colours and a little of the knitting. The blue one is plain below the yoke with a two-colour yoke; the beige one adds a patterned band above the rib on the body and sleeves and uses three colours. Same sizes and needles.
How tall is the collar?
In the blue version the collar is knitted in 1×1 rib for 6, 7, 7 or 8 cm depending on size, then bound off loosely.
What does the kit with needles include?
6 mm (US 10) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm, 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm, and 4.5 mm and 6 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names (it allows 60 or 80 cm for the longer needle; 60 cm suits these children’s sizes).
