Good to know

Vörn — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Four ages — 7, 10, 13 and 16 years — with a chest of 80, 86, 92 and 98 cm all round. Measure a sweater that fits the child now and choose the closest size.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for 16 years: 5 balls of beige tweed, 2 of grey heather and 2 of ecru heather. Ages 7 and 10 use 4 beige tweed and 1 grey; age 13 uses the same as 16.
What is the difference between the beige and blue Vörn?
The beige one has a patterned band above the rib on the body and sleeves and uses three colours; the blue one is plain below a two-colour yoke. Same sizes and needles.
How is the collar finished?
It is knitted in 1×1 rib in beige tweed for 4, 5, 5 or 6 cm depending on size, then 2 cm in ecru, and bound off loosely in rib.
What does the kit with needles include?
6 mm (US 10) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm, 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm, and 4.5 mm and 6 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names (it allows 60 or 80 cm for the longer needle; 60 cm suits these children’s sizes).
