Vefur — web. A web-like pattern wrapped around the neck, says the pattern. Védís Jónsdóttir’s scarf from Ístex’s Lopi 42 is knitted in the round as a tube of fine Einband, so it is double all the way — almond and pecan in a lattice on black heather, 150 cm long.

Size
16 × 150 cm (6¼″ × 59″) after rinsing — a double-layer scarf, knitted as a tube.
Gauge
22 sts × 32 rows = 10 cm (4″) in stocking stitch on 4 mm needles — keep the same gauge in the plain and the stranded parts.

How it is knitted
Knitted in the round as a tube of 72 stitches, starting from a scrap-yarn cast-on: 10 plain rounds in black heather, the web pattern from the chart (rounds 1–45), then rounds 37–45 repeated to about 133 cm, the chart once more and 10 plain rounds. Both ends are closed by grafting the stitches together flat, and the scarf is rinsed and laid flat to dry, straightening the twist.
