Which size should I knit?
Six sizes, XS to XXL, with a chest of 89, 93, 98, 102, 107 and 111 cm (35 to 43¾″) all round. The hem is wider — 99 to 121 cm — because the back swings out, so choose by the chest measurement.
How is the longer back made?
The hem starts with 3 garter ridges. Then short rows are knitted across the back only, turning 9 and then 4 stitches from the side markers, so the back grows longer than the front. The back also has 18 more stitches, which are decreased just below the underarms.
How are the cuffs gathered?
Each sleeve is cast on with 36 to 46 stitches, depending on size, and knitted in half twisted rib (knit one through the back loop, purl one) for 8 cm. Then 24 stitches are increased evenly in one round, so the wide sleeve gathers into the cuff.
How is the neckline finished?
After the yoke chart, a few short rows in chocolate raise the back of the neck. The neckband is 4 rounds of twisted rib in black sheep, then 5 rounds of stone blue before binding off. The pattern calls it a boat neckline, wider than on classic sweaters.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds 10 balls of stone blue, the XXL amount. Sizes XS, S and M use 8, L and XL use 9. One ball each of black sheep, chocolate, rust and apricot covers every size.
What does the kit with needles include?
ADDI 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, a 4 mm (US 6) circular needle in 40 cm, a 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle in 80 cm, and 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles.
