Overview
What's in the kit
Súla — column, as in the spinal column — is a top-down vest by Védís Jónsdóttir from Ístex’s Lopi 43, knitted in one colour of Léttlopi, royal fuchsia, with a deep V-neck and a ladder-like column running down the middle of the back. “Straighten up,” says the pattern — the back is what matters.

How it is knitted
Knitted from the shoulders down. The back comes first, back and forth, with short rows to shape the shoulders and a column down the middle: a yarn over between two knit stitches that is dropped on the next row, leaving a ladder of loose strands. The fronts are picked up from the back shoulders and shaped with increases for the deep V-neck and the armholes; then front and back are joined and the body is knitted in the round, finished with two rounds of seed stitch.
Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 43 (no. 20), Ístex.
