Good to know

Sær — your questions, answered

Do I have to cut my knitting?
Yes. The body is knitted in the round with two purled stitches at centre front (a steek). You machine-stitch along them twice and cut open between the rows of stitching; the seed-stitch front band and its facing are then sewn over the cut edge. The pattern takes you through each step.
What closes the front?
Seven large snap fasteners attached to the front band, plus the knitted belt. The snap fasteners are not in the kit.
Which size should I knit?
Four sizes — S, M, L and XL — with a chest of 98, 109, 120 and 132 cm all round and 109 to 143 cm at the lower edge. The pattern gives a shorter and a longer sleeve, 3 cm apart.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for XL: 19 balls of rough sea and 3 of black heather. S uses 16 rough sea, M 17 and L 18; every size uses 3 black heather.
What does the kit with needles include?
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, and 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names.
