Which size and which kit should I choose?
Choose the size range first: women’s XS–XL, women’s 2XL–5XL or men’s S–3XL. Finished chest: women’s XS and S 89, M 98, L 107, XL 115, 2XL 122–127, 3XL 132–137, 4XL 142–147, 5XL 152–158 cm; men’s S 89, M 98, L 107, XL 115, 2XL 123, 3XL 127–132 cm. The pattern allows 5 to 13 cm of ease over your body.
Will I have yarn left over?
Each kit holds the yarn for the largest size in its range, so smaller sizes have some to spare — the women’s XS–XL kit has 8 balls of lagoon, where XS and S use 6 and M uses 7. The apricot is only for the beaks, 5 to 15 metres in any size.
What does the kit with needles contain?
Two Addi circular needles, 3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7), both 80 cm — the two sizes the pattern uses. The designer recommends knitting the sleeves with the magic-loop method on the long circular needle.
Where do the short rows go?
At the start of the yoke, before the puffin chart. They make the back six rows longer than the front. If you prefer, the pattern shows how to split them: six short rows before the yoke pattern and four before the neckband.
Do I need anything else?
Four stitch markers, four stitch holders and a darning needle. They are not in the kit.
Is there a children’s version or a matching hat?
Yes. The Puffin Lopapeysa also comes in children’s sizes, and there is a hat with the same puffins — both are separate kits in our shop.
