Which size should I knit?
There are six women’s sizes, XS to 2XL, with a chest of 80, 86, 96, 106, 116 and 126 cm, and five men’s sizes, S to 2XL, with 90, 98, 106, 116 and 126 cm. The pattern allows 5 to 13 cm of room in the finished sweater, so choose by the chest measurement in the size table.
What is the difference between the women’s and men’s sizes?
The men’s body is 33 cm to the underarm against 30.5 cm for women, and the men’s sleeves are longer — 47 to 51 cm against 43 to 48 cm — with more stitches, so the yoke starts with more stitches too.
How is it knitted?
Body and sleeves are knitted in the round from the lower edge to the underarms, then joined for the yoke; the designer recommends magic loop for the sleeves. Wrap-and-turn short rows raise the back, then the penguin chart is knitted in rounds and the sweater finishes with a 2×2 rib neckband.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amounts for the largest men’s size: 10 stone blue, 4 white, 3 air blue, 2 black heather and 1 mimosa. The women’s M, for example, uses 6 stone blue, 3 white, 2 air blue and 1 black heather.
What does the kit with needles include?
ADDI circular needles in 3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7), both 80 cm long — the two sizes the pattern names.
Is there anything else I need?
The pattern mentions 4 stitch markers, 4 stitch holders and a darning needle. They are not in the kit.
