Good to know

Ómur — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Four sizes, to fit 6, 8, 10 and 12 years — a chest of 76 to 89 cm, 29 to 38 cm from hem to underarm and sleeves of 32 to 41 cm.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for size 12: 5 balls of spring green, 2 each of galaxy and white, and 1 of lyme grass — 10 balls. Size 10 uses all 10, size 8 uses 9 (one spring green over) and size 6 uses 8 (one spring green and one white over).
What is galaxy?
Léttlopi 1707 galaxy is a very dark heather, almost black, with flecks of colour. It is the dark colour in the yoke.
Why does the yoke chart have different start points?
The chart marks where each size begins — “beg 6 yrs”, “beg 8 yrs”, “beg 10 yrs” and “beg 12 yrs” — so start at your size’s mark. The pattern doesn’t say why; every size is a whole number of 8-stitch repeats (200, 208, 216 or 224 stitches), so the start point only shifts where the motifs fall around the yoke — our reading, not the pattern’s words.
What does the kit with needles include?
3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm; 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, as named in the pattern.
