Nattuggla Lopapeysa — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Twelve sizes: women’s XS to 2XL, chest 80 to 126 cm, and men’s XS to 2XL, chest 82 to 126 cm. Men’s sizes have a body 2.5 cm longer and sleeves 3 cm longer; from S up they also have wider sleeves and a larger yoke. The pattern plans 5 to 13 cm of ease.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for the 2XL sizes: 11 balls of Galaxy and 4 of white — 15 balls. Women’s and men’s XS use 9.
What colour is the neckband?
The sweater in the photos has a white neckband, but the pattern text says to knit it in the main colour, Galaxy. Either works; choose the one you like.
Are there misprints?
Two in the stitch counts, both in the men’s sizes. For men’s XL the front and back are printed as 86 stitches each; they should be 88, which gives the printed yoke total of 304. And the size table gives 18 underarm stitches for men’s 2XL, while the text gives 16 — use 16. Separately, by our calculation the chart’s optional start marks for centring the motif on the chest don’t fit women’s XL and 2XL: start women’s XL at column 5 (not 7) and women’s 2XL at column 16.
Which size is the sweater in the photos?
Men’s M, according to the pattern.
What does the kit with needles include?
A 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle in 80 cm — the pattern names only a 4.5 mm circular needle, without a length, and recommends the magic-loop method for the sleeves — ADDI. Stitch markers, stitch holders and a darning needle are not included.
