Lopi 18 No. 7 — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photo?
Two of the seven are still made by Ístex: dark denim heather (0010) — the body, sleeves, collar, the hollow diamonds and the last rounds below the collar — and light beige (0086), the yoke background and the top rib stripe. Our shop calls them denim heather and light beige heather. The other five are no longer made: dark sienna (9118), copper (9384), antique gold (9332), loden green (9239) and field (9719). Our Rósalind kit uses 1237 sheep sorrel, 9971 amber heather, 9964 golden heather, 1231 garden green and 9965 chartreuse green heather (our shop’s names) in their places, in that order. The leaflet prints the colour names next to the numbers.
Which size should I knit?
Three sizes, S to L, with a chest of 97, 108 and 118 cm, a length of 64, 67 and 70 cm to the centre front neck, and sleeves of 41, 43 and 45 cm to the underarm. The body’s 126 to 154 stitches come to the printed chest at the pattern’s gauge (our check), so the chest is the finished sweater’s measurement all the way round.
How much yarn do I need?
Álafosslopi in 100 g balls: dark denim heather 5 (5, 6), light beige 1 (1, 2) and loden green 1 (1, 2), and 1 ball each of dark sienna, copper, antique gold and field in every size — 11 (11, 14) balls.
How is the hem made?
The hem and cuffs are K1, P1 rib in stripes of 2 rounds each — dark denim heather, dark sienna, copper, antique gold and light beige, 10 rounds in all — with the increases on the last round. A 9-round wave band of loden green and field follows on the 6 mm needles, and the yoke starts with the same band turned upside down (our reading of the charts).
Anything to watch for?
A few small things. Each sleeve changes to the 6 mm needle with 42 stitches, about 32 cm round (our calculation) — too few for a 40 cm circular — so you will need 6 mm double-pointed needles, which the list leaves out (our reading). The underarm holders take 9 (10, 11) stitches from each sleeve but 8 (9, 10) from the body, so you graft one stitch more on the sleeve side; ease it in (our suggestion). Size S knits round 33 of the yoke chart but leaves out its decreases. Some rounds of the star band use three colours. And the pattern calls a circular needle a “twin pin”.
Is everything in the photo part of the pattern?
The sweater is. Her jeans are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo; a page with a small photo, the materials, sizes, tension and all the instructions; a page with both charts and the key; and Ístex’s back cover.
