-
“It is a masterful piece of work, the size of a coffee table, and one of my new favorite decor additions!”
- Natural white wool
- Icelandic sheepskin
- Every skin one of a kind
A whole Icelandic sheepskin in its natural white — the wool long and loose, on a soft leather back. Lay it on the floor beside the bed, over a dining chair or stool, or across the foot of a bed or a chaise.
Each rug is a single skin, so the shape and the length of the locks vary a little from one to the next. The size is about 85 × 62 cm (33 × 24 in), measured top to bottom at the longest point and across the widest part of the middle.
From Sauðárkrókur, North Iceland.
Caring for your sheepskin
Shake it outdoors and brush the wool with a wool comb or slicker brush. Dab spills with a damp cloth and let it dry away from direct sun. Never put it in the washing machine. Read our full guide to cleaning a sheepskin rug.

Care
-
Regular Cleaning: Vacuum the rug weekly or bi-weekly, and give it a good shake outside to remove dirt and maintain its appearance.
-
Restoring a Matted Rug: Use a wire slicker brush to gently untangle and fluff up the fibers. Brush in the direction of the hair growth, being careful not to over-brush.
-
Removing Stains: For stains or spills, gently scrape with the edge of a knife or blot with a damp cloth. After removing the stain, dab with clean water and let it dry. A wool comb can be used to fluff the rug afterward.
-
Washing the Rug: Avoid washing the rug, especially in a machine, as it can damage the sheepskin. If necessary, hand wash gently in lukewarm water with wool shampoo, rinse thoroughly, squeeze out excess water with towels, and dry on a rack or line, but not in direct sunlight. Brush once dry.

Why you'll love it
- Wool from a breed kept apart for 1,100 yearsIceland's sheep have been bred on the island since the settlement, with no other breeds brought in. Their fleece grows long and loose — which is what gives this skin its shaggy locks.
- No two are the sameOne sheep, one skin. The shape and the fall of the wool are its own, so the rug in your home is not a copy of anyone else's.
- From North IcelandOur sheepskins come from Sauðárkrókur, a small town on Skagafjörður in the north of Iceland.
