Is it a sweater or a skirt?
Both. The pattern gives a sweater and a skirt, knitted separately, each in seven sizes from XS to 3XL. Wear them together or on their own.
Which size should I knit?
The sweater’s chest is 83, 94, 97, 103, 117, 129 and 134 cm (32¾ to 52¾″) for XS to 3XL. The designer says the fabric is stretchy, so choose the size closest to your own measurements, or a bigger size for a looser fit.
How long are the sweater and skirt?
You knit them to your own measurements: the body to about 40 cm from hem to underarm, the sleeves to your wrist-to-underarm length (about 45 to 53 cm), and the skirt to the length you like — the pattern gives 42 cm as an example.
How is the skirt finished at the waist?
After a few waist decreases you knit 11 rounds of twisted rib, purl one round, knit 11 rounds and cast off. The top is folded over as a casing and an elastic band is threaded through. The elastic is not in the kit.
How much yarn does each size use?
For the sweater, the pattern’s table gives 6 balls of black sheep in XS and S, 7 in M to XL and 8 in 2XL and 3XL, 1 or 2 of light ash, and 1 each of frost grass and winter morning. The kit holds 11 black sheep, 3 light ash, 2 frost grass and 2 winter morning.
What does the kit with needles include?
ADDI 80 cm circular needles in 7 mm (US 10¾), 8 mm (US 11) and 4.5 mm (US 7), and double-pointed needles in the same three sizes — the needles the pattern lists. The 8 mm is for the charts if your colourwork is tight.
