Gjöf Icelandic Wool sweater — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Seven sizes, XS to 3XL, with a chest of 86, 93, 100, 106, 113, 120 and 126 cm (33¾ to 49½″) all round. Choose the one nearest a sweater that fits you, then pick the women’s or the men’s kit for the length.
What is the difference between the women’s and men’s kits?
The length. The men’s body is 39 to 45 cm to the underarm against 36 to 42 cm for women, and the men’s sleeves are 47 to 53 cm against 43 to 49 cm. The men’s kit has 12 balls of the main colour instead of 11.
Which colours are in the light and the dark version?
Light: 0051 white, with 0056 light grey and 0058 dark grey in the yoke. Dark: 0052 black sheep, with 1701 fjord blue, 9421 celery green, 9426 golden and 9427 rust. The pattern has a chart and colour key for each.
Will I have yarn left over?
Each kit holds the 3XL amounts. The women’s XS, for example, uses 7 balls of the main colour of the 11. In the light version sizes XS to XL use 2 of the 3 light grey and dark grey balls; in the dark version they use 1 of the 2 fjord blue and celery green.
How is the neckband finished?
After the yoke you knit 7 cm of knit 1, purl 1 rib on 3.5 mm needles and bind off loosely. If you like, fold it in half to the inside and slip-stitch it down for a double neckband.
What does the kit with needles include?
ADDI 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, a 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle in 80 cm, and 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles — the sizes the pattern names.
