Gjá — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Four sizes — 6, 8, 10 and 12 years — with a chest of 75, 80, 84 and 88 cm and 26 to 35 cm from hem to underarm.
Do I have to cut my knitting?
Yes. Two purled stitches at centre front form a steek. You machine-stitch twice through them and cut between the rows; the rib button bands are picked up along the cut edges.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for 12 years: 7 balls of white and one each of the six browns. 6 and 8 years use 5 balls of white, 10 years 6.
What is the difference between the brown and the grey Gjá?
The six pattern shades: straw, barley, murky, acorn, chocolate and black sheep — or light ash, ash, grey, dark grey, black heather and black. The body is white in both.
What does the kit with needles include?
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm; 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles in 40 and 60 cm; 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, the sizes the pattern names. The pattern allows 60 or 80 cm for the longer needles. Buttons are not included.
