Hrís are crisp cereal balls, made from maize and rice flour, each one coated in Freyja milk chocolate (min. 35% cocoa solids). The cereal is 38% of the weight, which keeps them light: 498 kcal per 100 g, against 577 in Freyja's Rís bar.

"Hið upprunalega síðan 1933", the original since 1933, says the bag; Freyja's history places Hrís among the sweets it started making after new machines arrived from Germany that year. Made in Kópavogur. One 200 g bag, or 10 bags.

How old is Hrís?

The bag says "Hið upprunalega síðan 1933", the original since 1933. Freyja's own history lists Hrís among the sweets it began making after it bought new machines from Germany in 1933, alongside Staur and Marzipanbrauð, both still made today.

How is Hrís different from Rís?

Rís is a bar of milk chocolate with crisp balls inside it. Hrís is the other way round: every crisp ball gets its own milk chocolate coat, and the cereal makes up 38% of the weight.

Does it contain gluten?

Yes. The crisp balls are made with barley malt extract, and Freyja declares gluten and milk. It may contain traces of nuts and wheat.

Will the chocolate melt in transit?

Chocolate can soften in warm months. We do not refund melted chocolate unless you add Shipping protection in the cart (terms of service, sections 9 and 10). If the balls arrive stuck together, a short spell in the fridge lets them break apart again.
