This sweater, originally designed by Védís Jónsdóttir, was meant to be more in brown tones. We decided to do a little twist and add a lighter main color and then green colors for the pattern. We think it turned out just perfect.
It's made of Léttlopi wool yarn which gives the sweater a light, yet warm characteristics. The yarn is also finer than our traditional Plötulopi so the pattern stands out more.

The time to deliver the pre-ordered sweater depends on our available knitters, season and other things. Please bear in mind that our sweaters are mostly made by retired women who do this as a hobby. We think happy knitters make happy sweaters, so we don't rush them.

This is an authentic Icelandic Lopapeysa which is now a protected product name by the Icelandic food and vetinary authority. To qualify as such it must be made from wool sheered from Icelandic sheep. The wool shall be new, not recycled. The sweater must be knit from Icelandic lopi and it shall be hand knitted in Iceland.

A genuine Lopapeysa — the name is protected by the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority: only sweaters hand-knitted in Iceland from new Icelandic wool may carry it. This is the real thing, not a machine-made imitation.
