What's in the kit

Védís Jónsdóttir’s beret from Ístex’s Lopi 39 is teal Álafosslopi with a narrow navy Léttlopi band, folded double.

How it is knitted
Knitted in the round: 90 stitches cast on in navy Léttlopi on 4 mm needles, 4 rounds, a purl round and 5 rounds — the lining of the band. Then teal Álafosslopi on 6 mm needles, 18 rounds on the same 90 stitches, and nine decrease rounds to the top. The Léttlopi lining folds inside along the purl round and is slip-stitched in place under the Álafosslopi edge.
Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 39 (no. 14), Ístex.

Why you'll love it
- Fullness without increasesThe same 90 stitches knit up wider in Álafosslopi on 6 mm needles than in Léttlopi on 4 mm — that is what makes the beret full.
- A folded bandNavy Léttlopi, folded along a purl round and stitched down inside — a firm, neat edge.
- Two ballsOne ball of each yarn makes the beret.
