Overview
What's in the kit
Blessun — blessing. A picture on the wall, an embroidered prayer, and now a cushion to lean on, says the pattern. Védís Jónsdóttir’s cushion from Ístex’s Lopi 41 carries the old house blessing in seven colours of Álafosslopi — the pattern has a chart in Icelandic, BLESSAÐ SÉ HEIMILIÐ, and one in English, BLESS THIS HOME.
Included
- Icelandic Álafosslopi wool yarn — all nine balls the pattern calls for
- Knitting pattern in English (PDF) — emailed right after purchase
- ADDI knitting needles — only if you choose the kit with needles

Gauge
14 sts × 17 rows = 10 cm (4″) in stranded stocking stitch on 6 mm needles — go down a needle size if needed.
Needles used in the pattern (included when you choose the kit with needles)
6 mm (US 10) circular needle, 80 cm
Not included
The cushion filler.
How it is knitted
Cast on 156 stitches in cypress green, join in the round and knit the chart — 92 rounds — then bind off. The top is grafted together from the right side, the cover is rinsed and dried, the filler goes in, and the lower edge is grafted closed in line with the top.
Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 41 (no. 5), Ístex.
