This well known original unisex Alasuq Polar Wilderness Sweater is from the popular book Wilderness Knits (2019) and is created for the outdoors enthusiasts and adventurous souls. Alasuq Polar is knitted in the Icelandic yarn Alafosslopi, known for its exceptional quality and weather resistance.
This knitting kit includes all material needed to make your own wool sweater of Icelandic wool yarn. A pullover designed by Linka Neumann. The Norwegian designer Linka Neumann, takes inspiration from nature and wildlife for her timeless designs. She designs patterns for Scandi-style jumpers and cardigans that will keep you warm and dry, no matter how rough the weather is.

Which size should I knit?

Measure round your chest and add about 10 cm — Linka designs Alasuq with that much room. The finished chest is 93, 101, 110, 120 and 130 cm (36½ to 51¼″) for S to XXL.

Women's or men's length?

You choose as you knit. For women the body is 41 to 45 cm to the underarm and the sleeves 47 to 51 cm; for men 46 to 50 cm and 52 to 56 cm. The yarn amounts are the same for both.

Short neck or high neck?

The short neck is 7 cm of K1 P1 rib, folded in half and sewn down loosely. The high neck is 20 cm of K2 P2 rib, bound off in pattern. Both are knitted in the teal on 4.5 mm needles.

Will I have yarn left over?

The kit holds the XXL amount: 7 balls of teal, 2 of ecru, 2 of burnt orange and 1 each of arctic exposure and golden heather. S and M use 5 balls of teal and 1 of burnt orange; L uses 6 of teal.

What does the kit with needles include?

6 mm (US 10) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles, each in 40 and 80 cm, and 4.5 mm and 6 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI. The pattern knits the colour bands on 7 mm (US 10¾) circular needles, which are not included.
