Afleggjari — a cutting, a seedling. In the pattern’s words, children play in a meadow where little seedlings grow — and something is hiding there; is it a fox? Védís Jónsdóttir’s children’s sweater from Ístex’s Lopi 38 is knitted with two strands of Plötulopi — dark amber, with a light ash yoke patterned in dark green and black sheep. The pattern’s sea green (1422) is no longer made; this kit has 0484 forest green in its place.

Gauge
14 sts × 19 rows = 10 cm (4″) in stocking stitch on 5.5 mm needles, with two strands of Plötulopi held together.

How it is knitted
Knitted with two strands of Plötulopi together. Body and sleeves are knitted in the round from 3 cm of 1×1 rib in light ash and a small border pattern, then in dark amber up to the underarms; they are joined and the yoke is knitted in the round from a chart with decreases. The neckband is 1×1 rib — two rounds in the green, then light ash to 4 cm.
