Stúkur — wrist warmers. Védís Jónsdóttir’s pair from Ístex’s Lopi 27, knitted in the round in Léttlopi: plain tubes with no thumb opening, taken in with two decrease rounds and widened again with five increase rounds, with moss-stitch edges and four small buttons sewn on each as decoration. The pattern gives two single-colour versions, navy (in the photo) and black heather, in sizes S, M and L; one 50 g ball makes the pair.

Gauge
The pattern gives no gauge; knit on 4.5 mm needles with 3.5 mm for the moss-stitch edges.
Needles
3.5 mm (US 4) double-pointed needles for the moss-stitch edges
4.5 mm (US 7) double-pointed needles for the stocking stitch in between
You will also need
8 small buttons, four for each warmer (in the pattern’s list), and yarn or thread to sew them on — in the photo it is red yarn, which the pattern does not list.
How it is knitted
Each warmer is knitted in the round on double-pointed needles. Cast on 32 (36, 40) stitches on 3.5 mm and work 5 rounds of moss stitch, then stocking stitch on 4.5 mm. Two decrease rounds (K2tog at the start, SKP at the end) take it in to 28 (32, 36) stitches, and five increase rounds (M1L and M1R) widen it to 38 (42, 46). It ends with 4 rounds of moss stitch on 3.5 mm and a bind-off in K1, P1 rib. The warmers are plain tubes with no thumb opening; the increases and decreases face the body, and each warmer is decorated with small buttons.
