Good to know

Stjörnuljós barna — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photo?
Yes. All four are still made by Ístex: ash (0054), black heather (0005), white (0051) and dark grey (0058), all Léttlopi. Our shop calls 0054 light ash heather and 0058 dark grey heather, so go by the colour numbers.
What do the sizes 128, 140 and 152 mean?
European children’s sizes, named after the child’s height in cm; the pattern prints no ages. The chest is 78, 83 and 89 cm all the way round — it matches the body’s stitch count at the pattern’s gauge (our check) — with 30, 33 and 36 cm from the hem to the underarm and sleeves of 34, 37 and 40 cm.
How much yarn do I need?
Léttlopi in 50 g balls: ash (A) 5 (6, 7) and one ball each of black heather (B), white (C) and dark grey (D) — 8 (9, 10) balls.
Is there a grown-up version?
Yes — Stjörnuljós is the grown-up sweater, and it is a separate pattern in our shop. Its own Ístex leaflet is numbered 43-21, so it is no. 21 in Lopi 43; this children’s leaflet does not give the number. The back page of this leaflet shows the boy beside a man in a matching grown-up sweater.
How is the yoke knitted?
In the round, from a 44-round chart with a 14-stitch repeat, in four colours; each size starts the chart at its own marked stitch. There are five decrease rounds. Size 128 leaves out five marked rounds and size 140 three; size 152 knits them all.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
For the neckband the pattern says just “Change to 3.5 mm needles”, without saying which kind. And the materials list leaves out the stitch holders and a tapestry needle.
Is everything in the photo part of the pattern?
The sweater is, in the pattern’s own colours. The jeans are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo; a page with the sizes, materials, gauge and all the instructions; a page with the yoke chart and the colour key; and a back page with a photo of the boy and a man in matching sweaters, above Ístex’s address.
