Skjól — shelter. Védís Jónsdóttir’s crossover wrap from Ístex’s Lopi 25, all in K2, P2 rib in bottle green Léttlopi, made from two flat pieces: a long scarf with slanted ends and a small back panel. The scarf goes round the back of the neck, crosses over the chest, and its ends are sewn to the sides of the back panel, which sits across the lower back in the photo. One colour, two sizes, 36–40 and 40–44, with the same amount of yarn.

Léttlopi — 50 g balls · sizes 36–40 (40–44)
A 1405 bottle green — 4 (4)
Sizes
36–40 and 40–44. The scarf is knitted to 115 (119) cm (45¼ (46¾)″) from the cast-on before its tapered end; the back panel is 23 (25) cm (9 (9¾)″) high. The pattern gives no other measurements.
Gauge
26 sts × 24 rows = 10 cm (4″) in K2, P2 rib on 4.5 mm needles.
Needles
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle, 80 cm — both pieces are knitted back and forth on it
You will also need
A tapestry needle for sewing the scarf to the back panel and weaving in the ends — the pattern lists only the yarn and the needle.
How it is knitted
Two pieces in K2, P2 rib, knitted back and forth on 4.5 mm. The scarf is cast on with 8 stitches and gains a stitch on every row, always at the same edge, up to 40 (44) stitches, so the end slants; it is knitted straight to 115 (119) cm from the cast-on edge, then decreased a stitch on every row at the same edge back to 8 stitches and cast off. The back panel is cast on with 52 (56) stitches and knitted to 23 (25) cm, “or as long as scarf end”. To finish, the scarf is crossed, short side up, and its ends are sewn to the sides of the back panel, narrow end down. In the photo the scarf stands round the back of the neck like a collar and the back panel sits across the lower back; the upper back is open, so there are no sleeves or armholes.
