Fregn — news. A cushion cover from Ístex’s Lopi 34 in three heathers of Álafosslopi — chocolate, ecru and oatmeal. It is knitted in the round as one tube on a 6 mm circular needle, from one 71-round chart of narrow bands of small geometric motifs — the second half mirrors the first; the two open ends are sewn shut round a 40 × 40 cm cushion pad, and a three-colour fringe is knotted along both seams. The original design is from Gefjun; Védís Jónsdóttir redesigned it and wrote the instructions. One version, one size. All three colours are still made.

How it is knitted
The cover is one tube, knitted in the round on a 6 mm circular needle: 102 stitches are cast on in chocolate heather and the 71-round chart is worked once — a 6-stitch repeat, 17 times round — and then the stitches are bound off. Most rounds use two colours; a few use all three. The ends are woven in, the tube is rinsed and laid flat to dry, one open end is sewn shut with chocolate heather, the pad goes in, and the other end is sewn shut. A fringe is knotted along both seams in every other stitch: one 18 cm strand of each colour, folded in half and pulled through with the crochet hook.
Original design: Gefjun. Redesign and instructions: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 34 (no. 24), Ístex.
