Good to know

Bláklukka — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photos?
Yes — all six are still made by Ístex: spring green (1406), white (0051), heaven blue (1402), violet (1414), black (0059) and crimson (9434). Go by the colour numbers; in our shop 1406 is called Spring Green Heather, 1402 Heaven Blue Heather, 1414 Violet Heather and 9434 Crimson Red.
Which size should I knit?
Four sizes — 1–2, 2–3, 4–5 and 5–6 years — with a chest of 56, 63, 70 and 76 cm, a lower edge of 63, 70, 77 and 83 cm (the body narrows towards the chest), 25 to 33 cm from hem to underarm and sleeves of 22 to 30 cm.
How much yarn do I need?
Léttlopi in 50 g balls. Green version: spring green (1406) 3 (4, 4, 5) and one ball each of white, heaven blue and violet. White version: white (0051) 3 (4, 4, 5) and one ball each of spring green, black and crimson. Both take 6 balls for 1–2 years, 7 for 2–3 and 4–5 years and 8 for 5–6 years.
How do I read the yoke chart for the white version?
The chart is drawn in the green version’s colours, and the key gives two codes for each square, green first and white second. For the white version, knit the chart’s white squares in black, its blue squares in white and its violet squares in crimson; green stays green.
Which colour for the ridges at the start of the yoke?
The pattern says to join body and sleeves “with A” (spring green) for both versions, then for the white version to purl 1 round, knit 1 and purl 1 without naming a colour. In the photo those ridges are white, so to match it knit them in white (our reading).
How does it go over the head?
The neckband is knitted back and forth, not in the round, so it leaves a small opening at the neck. You make a small button loop on the left side of the neckband and sew on a small button. The pattern does not say how to make the loop or how big the button should be.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo of the green version, a page with the materials for both versions, the sizes and the instructions, a page with the yoke chart, the eyelet chart and the colour key, and Ístex’s back cover.
