Good to know

Bára — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photo?
Yes. Both are still made by Ístex: carmine red (1430) and ash (1026), both Plötulopi. Our shop calls them carmine red heather and light ash heather. In the photo the ash looks almost white.
Which size should I knit?
Three sizes — 2, 4 and 6 years — with a chest of 55, 59 and 65 cm, 31, 39 and 45 cm from the hem to the underarm, and sleeves of 23, 27 and 30 cm.
How much yarn do I need?
Plötulopi in 100 g plates, knitted with one strand: 2 plates of carmine red and 1 of ash in every size.
How does it close?
From round 26 of the yoke chart the yoke is knitted back and forth, which leaves a slit on the left side of the back, where the back meets the left sleeve. The crocheted neck edging makes a loop of 3–4 chains at the slit for one button (not included).
Anything to watch for?
Two things in the numbers (our calculation). The yoke chart repeats over 10 stitches, and size 2’s 150 stitches are 15 repeats: every printed count matches. Sizes 4 and 6 start with 180 and 200 stitches — 18 and 20 repeats — but the printed counts fall by only 16 and 17 stitches in each round with one decrease per repeat (48 and 51 in round 31), ending at 52 and 64 stitches; decreasing in every repeat would end at 36 and 40. The pattern doesn’t say which repeats to leave out. And in size 2 the printed chest, 55 cm, is wider than the rib band’s 94 stitches give at the pattern’s gauge, about 49.5 cm; sizes 4 and 6 match.
Is everything in the photo part of the pattern?
The dress is, in its original colours. The small hair tie in her braid, the red tights and the red shoes are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo; a page with a small photo, the sizes, materials, gauge, all the instructions, the chart and the key; a blank page; and Ístex’s back cover.
