Tíglar (Lopi 29) — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photos?
All but one. Monet blue (9735), the main colour of the blue version — a blue with coloured flecks in the photo — is no longer made by Ístex; our blue kit uses 1234 blue tweed in its place. The other five are still made: Álafosslopi grey (0057), black heather (0005) and ash (0054) for the grey version, and midnight blue (0709) and amber (9971) for the blue. Our shop calls 0057 grey heather, 0054 light ash heather and 9971 amber heather, so go by the colour numbers.
Which size should I knit?
Five sizes, S to XXL, with a chest of 92, 98, 105, 111 and 117 cm all the way round; it matches the body’s stitch count at the pattern’s gauge to within half a centimetre (our check). The body is 41 to 45 cm from the hem to the underarm. Sleeves: men’s 49 to 53 cm, women’s 45 to 49 cm.
How much yarn do I need?
Álafosslopi in 100 g balls, the same for both versions: A 5 (5, 6, 6, 7), B 2 and C 1 (2, 2, 2, 2) — 8 (9, 10, 10, 11) balls in all.
Where do the colours go?
B is the rib at the hem and cuffs, and the top half of the neck rib with its rolled edge. Above the rib, a border of 10 rounds (9 in sizes S and M) goes from B to C to A in small points. Body and sleeves are plain A; the yoke chart stacks bands of pointed zigzags in all three colours from the underarm to the neck, never more than two colours in a round.
Is this the Tíglar from Lopi 30?
No. Lopi 30 has a different pattern called Tíglar, a Léttlopi sweater by Guðrún Ragna Sigurjónsdóttir. This one is Lopi 29, no. 21, by Védís Jónsdóttir.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
One count, by our check: at the yoke join in size XXL the second group of underarm stitches is printed as 11, but the body’s 152 stitches only add up with 10 — the same as the first group and the sleeves. The materials list leaves out stitch holders and a tapestry needle.
Is everything in the photos part of the pattern?
The sweaters are. The jeans, the dark trousers and the light grey T-shirt at the neck of the grey sweater are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo of the blue sweater; a page with photos of both versions, the sizes, materials, gauge, notes and all the instructions; a page with the two charts and the colour key; and Ístex’s back cover.
