Good to know

Stórstirni — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photos?
The black version: yes — black heather (0005) and ash (0054) are still made by Ístex; our shop calls 0054 light ash heather. The blue version: white (0051) is still made, but mountain blue (1415) is no longer made, and we have no kit for the blue version.
Which size should I knit?
Two sizes — M/L and XL/XXL — with a chest of 99 and 113 cm all the way round and 44 and 46 cm from the hem to the underarm. Sleeves: 51 and 53 cm for men, 48 and 50 cm for women. The pattern gives no total length.
How much yarn do I need?
Jöklalopi (the pattern calls it Bulky Lopi) in 100 g hanks: 7 (8) of the main colour (A) and 2 (3) of the light colour (B) — 9 (11) hanks in all, the same for both versions.
How are the sleeves increased?
The text reads “Inc 1 st, then in sequence: 1 st after first st and 1 st before last st of rnd in every 4th (5th) rnd, total 10 (10) times”, and the sleeve goes from 24 (28) to 34 (38) stitches. Ten stitches in all means ten single increases — by our reading one every 4th (5th) round, after the first stitch and before the last stitch in turn.
Is everything in the photo part of the pattern?
The sweater is. The black trousers are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo of the black version; a page with a small photo of both versions, the sizes, the materials for both colours, gauge, notes, all the instructions and the yoke chart with its key; a blank page; and Ístex’s back cover.
