Needles
7 mm and 8 mm (US 11) circular needles, 40 cm — 7 mm for the rib, 8 mm for the stocking stitch
8 mm (US 11) double-pointed needles for when the round gets tighter, as the pattern puts it

A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends — the pattern lists no notions at all.
How it is knitted
Knitted in the round from the brim up. 48 stitches are cast on on the 7 mm circular and knitted in K1, P1 rib for 8 cm, then in stocking stitch on 8 mm for 14 cm, changing to 8 mm double-pointed needles when the round gets tighter. The top has three decrease rounds (slip 1, K1, psso): to 36 stitches, then 2 knit rounds, to 24, to 12, and 1 knit round. The yarn is drawn through the last 12 stitches.
Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 26 (no. 13), Ístex.
