Good to know

Léttlopi Vest — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photos?
Yes. Black (0059), ash (0054) and stone blue (9418) are all still made by Ístex. Our shop calls 0054 light ash heather and 9418 stone blue heather, so go by the colour numbers.
Which size should I knit?
Four sizes — S, M, L and XL — with a chest of 82, 87, 91 and 96 cm all the way round and 31, 32, 33 and 34 cm from the hem to the underarm. The body’s 148 to 172 stitches come to the printed chest at the pattern’s gauge (our check); after the side decreases it is 136 to 160 stitches — about 76 to 89 cm round (our calculation). The pattern gives no total length.
How much yarn do I need?
Léttlopi in 50 g balls: 4 (4, 5, 5) of black (A) and 1 each of ash (B) and stone blue (C) — 6 (6, 7, 7) balls in all.
How are the armholes made?
At the underarm 10 (11, 12, 13) stitches are cast off at each side, and the front and the back are each knitted back and forth in stocking stitch for 4 rows. Then you cast on 48 (49, 50, 51) stitches over each shoulder and join the yoke in a circle. There are no sleeves and no armhole bands to pick up.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
A few small things. In the chart key the swatch beside “B 0054” is printed black, but the chart has no black squares: by our reading the white squares are B, ash, and the dark squares A, black; the light grey squares are “no stitch”. The pattern writes “cast of” for cast off, does not say which colour the neckband is (black in our photo), and leaves the stitch markers and a tapestry needle out of the list.
Is everything in the photos part of the pattern?
The black vest is. The white long-sleeved top under it, the light blue jeans, the earring and the ring are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 2 pages: a page with the sizes, the materials, gauge, notes, the body, the yoke, the neckband and the finishing; and a page with the chart and its key. There is no photo in the leaflet.
