Good to know

Kríli — your questions, answered

What sizes are there?
Three, printed as 2, 4 and 6 with no unit — children’s sizes; the pattern does not say whether they are years. It gives no measurements: the cuff is cast on with 22, 24 or 28 stitches, and the hand is 24, 28 or 32 stitches round.
How much yarn do I need?
One 50 g ball of Léttlopi in heaven blue (1402) for a pair, in every size — the pattern prints a single “1”.
Is there a gauge?
No, the pattern gives none. The mittens are knitted on 3.5 mm double-pointed needles; hold the mitten against the child’s hand as you go (our suggestion).
The photo shows six mittens?
They are laid out as a flower around a daisy for the photo. The pattern is for one pair, in three sizes.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
Two small things. The thumb is 9 (10, 11) stitches picked up around a 4-stitch opening, but the pattern does not say where the extra stitches go; picking up one or two at each corner closes the gaps (our suggestion). And the thumb top, *K1, K2 together* “until 4 sts are left”, comes out evenly only in the smallest size; in the larger sizes the repeat leaves 1 or 2 stitches over at the end of a round — knit them plain and go on until 4 are left (our reading).
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo, one page with the materials, sizes and the instructions for the right and the left mitten, a blank page and Ístex’s back cover.
