Good to know

Kolla — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Two sizes, 4–6 and 6–8 years. The bigger size has 84 stitches instead of 80, and 18 cm of rib instead of 16 before the crown. The pattern gives no gauge and no finished measurements, so it helps to compare with a hat that fits the child (our suggestion).
How much yarn do I need?
2 balls of Léttlopi (50 g balls) in navy, 9420, for either size. We sell 9420 as navy blue.
Is the cardigan in the photo part of the pattern?
No. The boy’s blue zip cardigan with red, yellow and white bands is a different pattern; Kolla is the hat only.
How is the crown shaped?
Through the rib, in four decrease rounds. Purling two together turns k2, p2 into k2, p1; knitting two together turns that into k1, p1; the third round turns it into plain knitting, and the last halves the stitches again before the yarn is drawn through. There is no chart.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
One small thing: in the third decrease round the last purl stitch is knitted together with the first stitch of the round, so from there the round starts one stitch later. The stitch counts printed, 20 (21), are right. And the pattern gives no gauge.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo, one page with the materials, sizes and instructions, a blank page and Ístex’s back cover.
