Good to know

Jökla — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photos?
Yes. All of them are still made by Ístex. Red: Léttlopi crimson red (9434), Plötulopi black (0059) and Einband purple (9044), turquoise (1762), lime (9268), sky blue (9281) and citron (9028). Blue: Léttlopi navy blue (9420) and white (0051), Plötulopi jasper red (1427) and Einband sky blue (9281), citron (9028), pink (1768), turquoise (1762) and orange (1766). Our shop calls 1427 jasper red heather.
How are the Plötulopi and Einband used?
Only in the yoke — and, in the red version, at the collar edge. Each dark square of the red chart, and each red square of the blue chart, is one strand of Plötulopi and one strand of Einband held together and knitted as one. The Einband changes every few rounds — the chart names the pair beside each group of rounds — which gives the multicoloured flecks you see in the close-ups in the pattern.
Which size should I knit?
Four sizes — S, M, L and XL — with a chest of 89, 98, 107 and 116 cm all the way round (it matches the body’s stitch count at the pattern’s gauge — our check), 46, 48, 50 and 52 cm from the hem to the underarm, and sleeves of 44, 45, 46 and 47 cm.
How much yarn do I need?
Red: Léttlopi crimson red (A) 8 (9, 9, 10) balls (50 g), 1 plate (100 g) of black Plötulopi and 1 ball (50 g) of each Einband. Blue: Léttlopi navy blue (A) 7 (8, 8, 9) and white (B) 1, 1 plate of jasper red Plötulopi and 1 ball of each Einband.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
Only small things. The body length “46 (48, 50, 52)” is missing its unit — it is centimetres. A stray Icelandic “L” (short for stitches) is left in the yoke instructions. The list leaves out stitch holders and a tapestry needle.
Is everything in the photos part of the pattern?
The sweaters are. The dark trousers and jeans and the earring are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo of both colourways; a page with a small photo, the sizes, the materials for both colourways, gauge, notes, the body, the sleeves and the blue yoke chart with its key; a page with the yoke, the collar, the finishing, the red yoke chart with its key and close-ups of both yokes; and Ístex’s back cover.
