This kit invites you to discover the vibrant hues that natural dyes can bring to wool. Using dried lupine, you will transform undyed Icelandic wool into warm, natural colors through a simple hands-on dye process.
No prior dyeing experience is required. Designed for both beginners and experienced makers, the kit provides everything needed to experiment with plant-based color at home while connecting with nature’s palette.
The dyed yarn can be used for swatches, details in knitting projects, mending, weaving, or combined with other yarns to create unique handmade pieces.
Rhubarb root naturally produces a golden yellow on white wool. By adding a small pinch of baking soda to the dye bath, you can raise the pH and shift the color toward a soft peach. This makes rhubarb root a particularly interesting natural dye, offering a simple way to explore how chemistry and nature work together in the dyeing process.
Kit includes:
- Two skeins of pretreated, undyed Icelandic wool (one white, one grey)
- Dried rhubarb root dye material
- Step-by-step instructions in English and Icelandic
Providing one white and one grey skein allows you to see how the same dye bath creates different colors depending on the base fiber.

We want you to be satisfied with you purchase. If you wish to return an item, you may return it within 30 days after delivery for a refund or exchange.
