Good to know

Gola (Lopi 30) — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photos?
Yes — all are still made by Ístex: Léttlopi dark grey (0058) and pink (1412) for the grey sweater and the golf club cover; Plötulopi sunset rose (1425) and dark grey (9103) with Einband blush (9128) and dark grey (9103) for the pink sweater. Our shop calls 0058 dark grey heather, 1412 pink heather, 1425 sunset rose heather and 9103 dark grey heather, so go by the colour numbers.
How are the two sweaters different?
The grey sweater is knitted in Léttlopi and is 36 (42) cm from the hem to the underarm. The pink one is knitted with one strand of Plötulopi and one of Einband together and is longer: 44 (50) cm. Their ribs differ too — each round of K1, P1 is followed by a purl round on the grey, by a knit round on the pink. The stitch counts, the chart and the sleeves are the same.
Which size should I knit?
Two sizes — S/M and L/XL — with a chest of 92 and 102 cm all the way round and sleeves of 48 and 50 cm to the underarm. At the narrowest point of the waist the body is about 86 (96) cm all the way round (our calculation from the stitches).
How much yarn do I need?
Grey sweater: Léttlopi in 50 g balls, dark grey (A) 7 (8) and pink (B) 2 — 9 (10) balls. Pink sweater: Plötulopi in 100 g plates, sunset rose 4 (5) and dark grey 1, with Einband in 50 g balls, blush 4 (5) and dark grey 1. Golf club cover: 1 ball each of Léttlopi dark grey and pink.
Do the kits include the golf club cover?
No. The grey sweater kit and the pink sweater kit have the yarn for the sweater in the larger size, L/XL. For the cover you need 1 ball each of Léttlopi 0058 and 1412.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
A few things. In S/M the waist shaping runs past the length to the underarm: the last increase comes at 38 cm on the grey sweater, which is 36 cm long to the underarm, and at 46 cm on the pink, which is 44 cm (our calculation) — knitting 4 cm instead of 5 between the shaping rounds finishes it in time (our suggestion). In L/XL the yoke puts 80 stitches on the back, but 82 are needed for the counts to come out at 184 body stitches and 275 yoke stitches (our calculation). The sleeves are cast on with the 3.5 mm circular, but 36 to 40 stitches are too few for a 60 cm needle; the 3.5 mm double-pointed needles fit (our reading). The golf club cover is decreased at the top “until 8 sts remain” — by our count the decreases go to 12, then 6. The list leaves out stitch markers, stitch holders and a tapestry needle.
Is everything in the photos part of the pattern?
The sweaters are, and so is the spotted golf club cover with the pompom on a club in the golf bag. The cap, the visor, the gloves, the trousers, the trainers, the golf bag, the clubs, the ball and the flag are not. The photo of the two women is the pattern’s cover; the other two are from Ístex’s photo set for the pattern.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo; a page with a small photo, the sizes, materials, gauge, notes, the body, the sleeves, the colour key and the yoke chart; a page with the yoke, neckline and finishing, and the golf club cover — its photo, materials, instructions, chart and key; and Ístex’s back cover.
