Good to know

Goði — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photo?
Yes. Brick (9431), black sheep (0052), acorn (0053) and barley (1419) are all still made by Ístex. Our shop calls the first three brick heather, black sheep heather and acorn heather, so go by the colour numbers.
Which size should I knit?
Six sizes — XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL — with a chest of 89, 93, 98, 102, 107 and 111 cm all the way round, 40 to 46 cm from the hem to the underarm, and sleeves of 47 to 53 cm. The pattern gives no total length.
How much yarn do I need?
Léttlopi in 50 g balls: brick (A) 7 (7, 8, 8, 8, 9), black sheep (B) 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3), acorn (C) 2 in every size and barley (D) 1 (1, 1, 2, 2, 2) — 12 (12, 13, 14, 15, 16) balls in all.
How is the collar finished?
After the yoke you change to black sheep on 3.5 mm needles, knit one round with decreases to 72 (72, 76, 76, 80, 80) stitches and work 8 cm of K1, P1 rib. It is bound off loosely, folded to the wrong side and sewn loosely in place, so the finished neckband is doubled.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
Two small things. In sizes S, L and XXL the front has 2 stitches more than the back when body and sleeves are joined; the totals are right and the leaflet does not say why. The materials list leaves out stitch holders and a tapestry needle.
Is everything in the photo part of the pattern?
The sweater is. The blue jeans and the belt are not.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo; a page with a small photo, the sizes, the materials, gauge, notes, the body, the sleeves, both charts and the colour key; a page with the yoke, the collar and the finishing; and Ístex’s back cover.
