Good to know

Fura — your questions, answered

Can I still buy the colours in the photos?
Yes. Both are still made by Ístex: white (0051) and grey (0057), both Léttlopi. Our shop calls 0057 grey heather, so go by the colour number.
Which size should I knit?
Three sizes — 5–6, 7–8 and 10–11 years — with a chest of 73, 79 and 84 cm, 31, 34 and 37 cm from the hem to the underarm, and sleeves of 33, 36 and 39 cm. The chest matches the body’s stitch count at the pattern’s gauge (our check), so it is the finished sweater’s measurement all the way round.
How much yarn do I need?
Léttlopi in 50 g balls: white (A) 4 (5, 6) and grey (B) 2 (2, 3) — 6 balls for 5–6 years, 7 for 7–8 and 9 for 10–11.
How is the yoke knitted?
In the round. Body and sleeves are joined on a 4.5 mm circular needle, 200 (210, 220) stitches, and the 38-round chart takes them down to 80 (84, 88) in six decrease rounds — one k2tog in every 10-stitch repeat each time. The smaller sizes leave out marked rounds: 5–6 years knits 34 rounds, 7–8 years 36, and 10–11 years all 38.
Is anything unclear in the pattern?
Small things. In the neckband the stitches are written “L”, the Icelandic abbreviation — read “sts”. The check band repeats over 4 stitches, but in size 7–8 the body has 142 stitches and the sleeve 38, which do not divide by 4, so its third round does not come out even where the round starts (our check). And the text does not say to change to white after the check band; the photos show a white body.
How do I get the pattern?
The PDF is emailed to you right after purchase. Nothing is posted. It is in English and has 4 pages: the cover photo; a page with the materials, sizes, instructions, both charts and a small photo; a page with two more photos; and a back cover with one more photo.
