Bogi is a round-yoke sweater for toddlers from Ístex’s Lopi 34, knitted in Léttlopi: white, with a yoke of black sheep and murky motifs and a matching band above the moss-stitch hem and cuffs. The moss-stitch neckband is open at the left shoulder and closes with one button and a crocheted loop. The original pattern is from Gefjun; Védís Jónsdóttir redesigned it, and the instructions are by Hulda Hákonardóttir. One colour version, in sizes 1 to 4 years. All three colours are still made.

Needles
3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles, 40 and 60 cm — 3.5 mm for the moss-stitch hem and the neckband, 4.5 mm for the body and the yoke
3.5 mm and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles for the sleeves — 3.5 mm for the moss-stitch cuffs
You will also need
One button and a 3.5 mm crochet hook for the button loop (both in the pattern’s list), and — though the list leaves them out — stitch holders for the underarm stitches and a tapestry needle for grafting.
How it is knitted
Body and sleeves are knitted in the round from the bottom up. Each starts with 4 (4, 5, 5) rounds of moss stitch in black sheep on 3.5 mm needles, then an 8-round band from chart 1 on 4.5 mm — black sheep and murky, then small black sheep shapes on white — and goes on in white stocking stitch to the underarm; the sleeves are increased under the arm. Body and sleeves are joined, and the round yoke is knitted from chart 2, 30 rounds with three decrease rounds, from 160 (170, 180, 190) stitches to 64 (68, 72, 76); the smaller sizes leave out marked rounds. For the neckline, 1 round is knitted in black sheep on 3.5 mm with decreases; then the knitting goes on to the middle of the left shoulder and the neckband is worked back and forth in moss stitch for 4 (4, 5, 5) rows and bound off, so it is open there. A small chain loop is crocheted on one side of the opening and the button sewn on the other, and the underarm stitches are grafted.
