Blúndutrefill — lace scarf. Guðrún Ragna Sigurjónsdóttir’s three-metre scarf from Ístex’s Lopi 30, knitted back and forth in fine white Einband: an open lace of double yarn-over holes between narrow moss-stitch borders, 16 cm wide and 300 cm long. In the photo it is wrapped once round the neck and both ends still hang long. One version, one size. White (0851) is still made.

Yarn used in the pattern (not included)
Einband — 50 g balls · one size — 16 × 300 cm
A 0851 white — 3
Size
16 cm wide and 300 cm long (6¼″ × 118″).
Gauge
20 sts × 40 rows = 10 cm (4″) over the lace pattern on 4 mm needles.
Needles
4 mm (US 6) needles — the pattern does not say which kind; the scarf is 34 stitches knitted back and forth, so straight needles or a circular needle used back and forth will do (our note)
You will also need
A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends — the pattern’s list leaves it out.
How it is knitted
Knitted back and forth on 34 stitches, all from one chart. Rows 1 to 7 are moss stitch across the full width; row 8 keeps 5 moss stitches at each side and purls the stitches between them. Rows 9 to 16 are the lace repeat: 5 moss stitches at each edge and, across the middle, two lace rows in every eight, of K2tog, two yarn overs and SKP — the holes of the second lace row sit between those of the first. Rows 9 to 16 are repeated until the scarf measures 296 cm, ending with a whole repeat; then come 7 rows of moss stitch and a loose bind-off. Last, the scarf is washed carefully in lukewarm water without rubbing, rinsed, the water squeezed out with a towel, and laid to dry on an even surface.
